Every parent of a new drummer eventually hits "The Wall." It’s that moment when the excitement of the new hobby is replaced by the reality of 100-decibel snare hits echoing through the kitchen.

​The big music stores will tell you the only solution is to buy a quiet electronic drum set. But if you already have an acoustic kit, you don't need to spend thousands to keep the peace. You just need a "Stealth Bundle."

​Here is how to silence a standard drum set for under $50 using the same gear I recommend to my private students in Thousand Oaks.

1. The "SoundOff" Pads ($30 - $40)
